Boot Obsession

Now that its almost summer people think that its time to put away their boots and bring in their sandals and flip-flops, but the thing is I still wear my boots. These aren't all of them...I think I have about 5 or 6 pairs of boots. Yes, I am obsessed, but what can I say I love them and they do with everything. My pair from Chelsea Boots from Topshop (the one on the left) are my favorite. They've become a bit scuffed and worn out, which means that I'm on the look out for a new pair! My Chelseas are not only comfortable, but they are great for everyday and for the evening. My newest pair of boots are my Doc's (middle). I was a bit scared to wear them after I bought them, they were a bit too "out there" for me, but I learned how to style them and I've learned to love them. The last pair are my oldest, they're my Sam Edelmans. I haven't worn them in forever and I don't understand why not.
I'm sure I'm not the only one that wears boots this summer. What kind do you wear?

OMBRE LIPS

First it was all about ombre hair, after it was the ombre nails and now is the chance of the ombre lips.

Here we’re going to give you some tips to get them in a few easy steps.

STOP!

Before coloring your lips with all kind of lipstick you should prepare your lips. How? You can exfoliate them with a simple scrub made of sugar and honey. To seal them put some ice for a few seconds and to finish some lip balm. Now they are ready to color!

You’ll need:

2 different lipstick colors. One dark, one light. It doesn’t’ matter the combination, what it matters is that you can see the contrast or the transition between them.

1) Apply the darker one first. You can border your lips leaving some blanks in the middle. Then apply the light one in the center of the lips.

2) Blend them using a brush or just your fingers tapping them softly.

If you want you can seal them with some lip-gloss to shine or translucid powder to get a matte effect.

Et voilà! You got your ombre lips!

Perfect Curls

1. Many women complain of not having uniform curls. “To enhance the natural texture of your hair, you can apply mousse such as Jonathan Product Infinite Volume Thickening Foam to your hair at night. Section your hair into one inch pieces and double strand twist it or you can do braids,” suggests celebrity stylist Keith Campbell. Follow this up by sleeping with it overnight and let it out in the morning. Your hair texture will remain natural and enhanced. Spray with Jonathan Product Finish Control Hairspray to lock in the curls.

2. Stylist Dani Hauflaire from renowned Maxine Salon in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood also champions the nighttime shampoo. Then, she advises you pin-curl your hair loosely, either starting at the ends or the mid shaft, and roll upwards towards the scalp in a pinwheel motion. You can also place a full circle, soft headband on top of your hair as though you are pulling down a knit cap, placing the headband about an inch from the perimeter of the hairline. Or, with your comb and finger, start at your front part with a simple push backwards, place a bobby pin horizontally, then a pull forward and another bobby pin. Continue alternating forward and backward placements along the front hairline and you will have beautiful finger waves to work with in the morning.

Douglas David, managing partner of Douglas Carroll Salon, a nationally and internally recognized salon, says us curly girls have tons of options.

3. When your hair is already curled: The focus here is on conservation, so you want to apply products that preserve your look without sacrificing manageability in the morning. Conserve curls with a flexible hairspray like Moroccan Oil medium hold hairspray. Twist and secure your curled hair into two buns. When you wake up in the morning, shake out your curls, spray again with hairspray. Add a shine spray like Sebastian Halo Mist to tame fly-aways.

4. For naturally wavy hair: Spray a texturizing spray such as TIGI Catwalk’s Sea Salt spray onto wet hair and let dry partially. Twist hair into sections and diffuse. Gently loosen in the morning, and add hairspray. Naturally wavy hair already has “curly” tendencies, so the focus needs to be on complementing and enhancing the natural texture of the hair.

5. For crimpy, textured curls: Braid dry hair and apply a smoothing cream on the ends, like S-Factor Smoothing Lusterizer, and a soft mousse all over the hair, like TIGI Totally Baked. Shake out in the morning and hairspray. In this case, more braids (and therefore smaller braids) mean tighter and more defined waves and curls. Less braids (and therefore larger braids) mean looser waves and curls.

6. Another easy technique to wake up with curls is the sock bun, suggests celeb stylist Julia Papworth. Take a sock and cut off the toe and roll it down onto itself. Pull your damp or roughly dried (not wet) hair into a high ponytail and secure it with a soft elastic. Put your ponytail through the hole in the rolled up sock, wrap the ends of your hair around the sock evenly and proceed to roll the sock down your hair, in a motion similar to rolling it down your own leg. Make sure the hair is spread out evenly around the entire sock to guarantee uniform curls. Roll the sock down so your hair is being fed through the hole, and then up around the sock until you reach the base of your ponytail. You will not even need booby pins to hold the bun in place! When you wake up in the morning, take out the bun and use your fingers to piece out the curls. Finish with Oribe Apres Beach Spray to add texture and enjoy the extra hit on the snooze button.

Oh so helpful for us curly haired girls!

How To: Make Up Contouring

Models, actresses, and celebrities (such as Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian) are frequently exalted for their beautiful, chiseled faces. But did you know that many of these gorgeous women rely on beauty secrets (like makeup contouring) to create the illusion of a thinner, more sculpted face? This easy to follow beauty tutorial shows you how to do makeup contouring in three steps.
makeup contouring in 3 easy steps:

1. Highlight
Before using foundation, apply concealer to your face in the following areas: in an upside-down triangle shape underneath your eyes, along the bridge of your nose, and above the cupid’s bow of your mouth. This will act as a highlighter for your face, which enables the natural light to bounce off those areas, making them more prominent.

2. Contour
After applying concealer and foundation, using a matte bronzer or contouring powder (about two shades darker than your foundation color), sweep this darker color across the hollows of your cheeks (it helps to suck-in your cheeks while doing this). Then sweep the bronzer below your jawline, under your chin, and along the perimeter of your forehead. This helps make these areas appear to recede, creating a more chiseled, defined look to your cheekbones and jawline. If you want to minimize the appearance of your nose, you can also use a small brush to dust the contouring powder down the sides of your nose (which makes it appear more narrow) and underneath the tip of your nose (making it look shorter).

3. Blush
Make sure to thoroughly blend all the face makeup (concealer, foundation, bronzer or contouring powder) you’ve just applied with a makeup brush. As a final touch, sweep blush onto the apples of your cheeks. This helps bring the whole look together. Voila! In three easy steps, you’ve created the look of a thinner, more sculpted face by using makeup contouring techniques.

InStyle | Two For The Road

InStyle | Two For The Road

InStyle's March 2013 Editorial of Nicholas Hoult and Eleanor Tomlinson two British actors that star in Jack the Giant Slayer, an adult take on Jack and the Beanstalk. I gotta tell you guys, Nicholas Hoult is such an amazing actor. When he was younger he stared in the first season of Skins UK as Tony. He was probably my favorite actor in the first season, I didn't get to see Jack the Giant Slayer and that was a miss. I'll just watch it later. Other than Mr. Hoult, InStyles's editorial was beautiful this March. I loved the "old fashion" feel the photographs gave, but there is a modern look that the stylists gave to the actors.
It is last months editorial but better late than never.

Eśtée Lauder Signature | Tender Mauve Lipstick

So I found this lipstick deep inside my makeup drawer sometime this week. Its one of EÅ›tée Lauder's older lipsticks but the color is so beautiful. It gives a more prominent pinkish color to your lips but also adds some sparkle which is oh so fun for casual days and even nights out. The lipstick itself is packaged so beautifully but it even smells good. EÅ›tée Lauder has this signature smell in all their products (the ones I use) that makes you fall in love with it even more. Their products really makes you feel like a girl.

Tye-Dye Top Coat by Style.com

The road to imaginative nail-polish creation is fairly well traveled at this point. Between matte, chunky glitter, speckled, and rubberized finishes, it’s easy to feel like you’ve seen it all when it comes to lacquer innovation. But there’s still plenty of room for surprise in the wonderful world of top coats. Between the shatter and shimmer effects that can now gloss over and crackle your base color, YSL has found room for its new La Laque Couture Tie & Dye collection. A visual feast in the bottle containing three separate phases of polish—a sparkle phase, a sheer solid phase, and a clear gloss phase—the four transparent top coats add a wash of glimmering pigment to pure polish bases: 01 Cool Coat is a bright melon, 02 Pop Coat is a pretty fuchsia, 03 Hip Coat is a warm lilac, and 04 Ice Coat is a dark blue. Pull the brush out as is, or shake to combine all three phases together first, and then paint on top of a fresh manicure at will. We were a little disappointed to learn that the varnishes didn’t apply in a single ombré streak, as we assumed they did upon first glance (that kind of innovation, it appears, still remains elusive), but we were pleasantly surprised to find that 02 Pop Coat gives bare nails a lovely tinted sheen when worn on its own.

The Falls Top Models of 2013 From Style.com

Sasha Luss

AGE: 20
FROM: Magadan, Russia
SHOWS WALKED: 58
WHY SHE MADE THE CUT:
After making her debut on Raf Simons' Christian Dior Haute Couture runway (not too shabby!) Sasha Luss walked twenty shows in New York, among them Calvin Klein, Narciso Rodriguez, and Altuzarra, which she closed. Like a pro, she skipped London, then landed on major Milan runways, including Versace, Prada, Jil Sander, and Emilio Pucci, where she was the opener. Luss completed the month in Paris, with appearances at Chanel, Dior, Givenchy, Lanvin, Miu Miu, and Valentino. That's a major season for any catwalker—let alone a newcomer—which is why this Russian beauty tops our list.

Chiharu Okunugi

AGE: 20
FROM: Meguro-ku, Japan
SHOWS WALKED: 53
WHY SHE MADE THE CUT:
Last season, Chiharu Okunugi caught the attention of Ashley Brokaw—who casts shows for Prada, Balenciaga, and Miu Miu—so when she turned up on day one of New York fashion week, we figured she'd become a Fall ’13 runway fixture. Appearances at Altuzarra, Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler, Giles, Jil Sander, Prada, and Versace confirmed our hunch. Her Paris list sealed the deal. Balmain, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu, and Stella McCartney all came calling.

Sam Rollinson

AGE: 18
FROM: Doncaster, England
SHOWS WALKED: 62
WHY SHE MADE THE CUT:
Type "cheekbones that could cut glass" into Google, and a picture of Sam Rollinson pops up on page one. The edgy Brit has already landed spreads in glossies like CR Fashion Book and British Vogue. And this season, she walked more runways than practically anyone, from biggies in New York, like Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, and Proenza Schouler, to the cream of the crop across the pond—Prada and Saint Laurent included.

Kataya Riabynikina

AGE: 18
FROM: Russia
SHOWS WALKED: 47
WHY SHE MADE THE CUT:
Katya Riabinkina earned her place on this list before the Fall shows even started. Last season, she came out of nowhere and swept up Milan, then disappeared just as quickly. Model watchers never stopped talking about her, though, and after reemerging during Pre-Fall, she proceeded to walk forty-seven Fall runways, finishing things off by opening Alexander McQueen, where she looked positively regal underneath her pearly cage mask.

Maria Borges

AGE: 20
FROM: Luanda, Angola
SHOWS WALKED: 37
WHY SHE MADE THE CUT:
Let's be real here: It's insanely difficult to make it in this industry, but even more so if you're a model of color—particularly when influential labels such as Balenciaga, Lanvin, Jil Sander, and Louis Vuitton, for starters, didn't cast a single black model in their lineups this season. Proving she didn't need their help anyway, Borges racked up an impressive show list, making memorable appearances at Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford, Sister by Sibling, Kenzo, and Givenchy, to name just a few.

Manuela Frey

AGE: 16
FROM: Brugg, Switzerland
SHOWS WALKED: 36
WHY SHE MADE THE CUT:
Every new model covets the opening spot at Calvin Klein, and this season, the casting gods—Maida & Rami, to be specific—smiled on Manuela Frey. The smart Swiss beauty (she speaks four languages) picked up momentum in Milan and Paris, turning up at Fendi, Bottega Veneta, Dries Van Noten, Christian Dior, Chanel, Miu Miu, and Alexander McQueen. An editorial in the latest issue of W indicates her career has legs off the runway, too.
