The Falls Top Models of 2013 From Style.com

Sasha Luss

AGE: 20
FROM: Magadan, Russia
SHOWS WALKED: 58
WHY SHE MADE THE CUT:
After making her debut on Raf Simons' Christian Dior Haute Couture runway (not too shabby!) Sasha Luss walked twenty shows in New York, among them Calvin Klein, Narciso Rodriguez, and Altuzarra, which she closed. Like a pro, she skipped London, then landed on major Milan runways, including Versace, Prada, Jil Sander, and Emilio Pucci, where she was the opener. Luss completed the month in Paris, with appearances at Chanel, Dior, Givenchy, Lanvin, Miu Miu, and Valentino. That's a major season for any catwalker—let alone a newcomer—which is why this Russian beauty tops our list.

Chiharu Okunugi

AGE: 20
FROM: Meguro-ku, Japan
SHOWS WALKED: 53
WHY SHE MADE THE CUT:
Last season, Chiharu Okunugi caught the attention of Ashley Brokaw—who casts shows for Prada, Balenciaga, and Miu Miu—so when she turned up on day one of New York fashion week, we figured she'd become a Fall ’13 runway fixture. Appearances at Altuzarra, Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler, Giles, Jil Sander, Prada, and Versace confirmed our hunch. Her Paris list sealed the deal. Balmain, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu, and Stella McCartney all came calling.

Sam Rollinson

AGE: 18
FROM: Doncaster, England
SHOWS WALKED: 62
WHY SHE MADE THE CUT:
Type "cheekbones that could cut glass" into Google, and a picture of Sam Rollinson pops up on page one. The edgy Brit has already landed spreads in glossies like CR Fashion Book and British Vogue. And this season, she walked more runways than practically anyone, from biggies in New York, like Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, and Proenza Schouler, to the cream of the crop across the pond—Prada and Saint Laurent included.

Kataya Riabynikina

AGE: 18
FROM: Russia
SHOWS WALKED: 47
WHY SHE MADE THE CUT:
Katya Riabinkina earned her place on this list before the Fall shows even started. Last season, she came out of nowhere and swept up Milan, then disappeared just as quickly. Model watchers never stopped talking about her, though, and after reemerging during Pre-Fall, she proceeded to walk forty-seven Fall runways, finishing things off by opening Alexander McQueen, where she looked positively regal underneath her pearly cage mask.

Maria Borges

AGE: 20
FROM: Luanda, Angola
SHOWS WALKED: 37
WHY SHE MADE THE CUT:
Let's be real here: It's insanely difficult to make it in this industry, but even more so if you're a model of color—particularly when influential labels such as Balenciaga, Lanvin, Jil Sander, and Louis Vuitton, for starters, didn't cast a single black model in their lineups this season. Proving she didn't need their help anyway, Borges racked up an impressive show list, making memorable appearances at Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford, Sister by Sibling, Kenzo, and Givenchy, to name just a few.

Manuela Frey

AGE: 16
FROM: Brugg, Switzerland
SHOWS WALKED: 36
WHY SHE MADE THE CUT:
Every new model covets the opening spot at Calvin Klein, and this season, the casting gods—Maida & Rami, to be specific—smiled on Manuela Frey. The smart Swiss beauty (she speaks four languages) picked up momentum in Milan and Paris, turning up at Fendi, Bottega Veneta, Dries Van Noten, Christian Dior, Chanel, Miu Miu, and Alexander McQueen. An editorial in the latest issue of W indicates her career has legs off the runway, too.
